  • My homemade Kimchi

I decided to make kimchi today following Maangchi recipe, still waiting for the final kimchi taste, but so far, it smells so good, especially the kimchi paste, I skipped the raw oyster part, and since I only used on Napa cabbage, therefore, I cut all the ingredients down.
instead of using 1/2 cup of sweet rice flour, I only used one big tbsp of all purpose flour and followed the rest of the mixture formulas
And here are some pictures that I took during my Kimchi making process ,

    Cabbage before soaked with salt

Cabbage after 4 hour soaked with salt ( they shrink tremendously )

This is Kimchi paste ( smell so good ) yummi

    And my finished KIMCHI , ( )

  • Vienamese Tau Hu Ky( bean curd sheet with shrimp)

    DSC02371 copy

I am allergic to shrimp, ( sad to say) , If I eat shrimp, my lips will be red and swollen, bruises all over my face, and I feel extremely itchy

but I love bean curd, and Vietnamese Tau hu Ky ( or bean curd sheet with shrimp) is one of the famous dishes that Asian people adapt to make their own tastes.

I decided to make tau hu ky today, I have to admit that making a good, yummi , delicious Vietnamese dish is very time consuming, but the result is a good reward.

after finishing one roll of Tau hu ky, even though  my lips were already swollen and itchy, but since food has always been my passion , so going through all the pain to enjoy the dish that i like , it's worth the journey , at least for me, hihihihihihi

  • Pasta Pomodora

Pasta Pomodoro _ a chain of casual and fresh Italian,

I love pasta and Italian food, the last time I tried Gypsy Pasta; this time my friends and I came  to Emery ville to enjoy the Bank Job movie and we decided to try foods in  Pasta Pomodoro.
we came on Saturday night, so finding a parking plot was just like a pain in the ass ~^^

the dining atmosphere in Pasta Pomodoro is casual and fits for a casual one night out of town.

Bruschetta_ Italian country bread and topped with extra virgin alive oil, and garlic, the pesto dipping sauce :  a mixture of basil, garlic, salt and olive oil,
I love the  soft and rich texture of the bread

and below was my main dish : Lagsana _ layers of beef, tomato sauce, pasta and cheese, YUMMY, YUMMY

look huge huh? but I didn't believe that I can be able to finish the whole dish, a little bit salty but overall was good,

the cons : the restaurant is a little bit prices for a hunger student like me, so even though it's a nice, fresh and casual Italian restaurant, I stick with my Gypsy

  • Botanical garden_ Berkeley

    Botanical garden_ part 1 :

Here come the picx that I took in Botanical Garden in Berkeley, damn, flowers are blooming, here you can see the largest flowers in the world and it only blooms once every 12-15 years or carnivorous plant that can eat insect, spiders and even RATS

    1. Titania_corpse flower _ blooms after 10-15 years of the corm's (like a bulb) growth and dormancy cycles. The flower stinks like a corpse when it blooms to attract carrion insects, which help pollinate it. When it blooms, the flower is huge. it is the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world. lucky me, I arrived right at the time the flower is blooming, fantastic,

  • Gypsy_Italian cuisine

I have tried dozen of different pasta plates in Gypsy but until today, I decided to write a review for it.

Gypsy, located in the heart of Berkeley, has been on of my top restaurants. The pasta tastes like heaven , you can get a huge plate with no more than seven dollars. It is very popular and offers big deal of good, delicious pasta for starving college students. All of the pasta plates comes with a French bread topped with baked garlic cloves. I am for sure you are gonna love them.  There is always a long line and lots of people eating

    DSC01833 DSC01832

Along with pasta, Calzone is yet another famous dish offered by Gypsy. The calzone is huge and  blended inside with creamy cheese, chicken , vetgetable.. It's tasty tasty and tasty

But since the restaurant is always busy so you have to wait for about 15 to 20 minutes to have your order get processed, but it's worth to try though. The second problem is : finding a parking place in Berkeley is like a Pain In the Ass  for people who travel down to Berkeley just to enjoy Gypsy's Pasta.

Below are foods that I enjoyed today with my friends, different person ordered different plate so we can share together, YUMMYYYYY

That is Pesto Calzone, ( chicken + parmesean chesse + pesto sauce blended inside)

Torillia tricolor with jumbo shrimp and cheese ( creamy, tasty)  , a  french bread topped with garlic clove ,

And the name of this dish may ring you a bell of a movie . This dish is called : GODFATHER"S FAVORITE.

if you have chances traveling down to Berkeley, don't hesitate to try pasta of the best Italian restaurant in the BAY AREA

  • Jajangmyeon

Last Friday, after finishing the midterm, my friends and I decided to have JajangMyen ( Korean traditional noodle). The restaurant , located in the heart of Oakland, is found in a narrow street where all other Korean stores congregate . It is small in size and accommodates approximately  20 people. There were only 3 other customers in the place when we entered, but it was at an off time for meals, 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon.

The prices are very affordable since no entrĂ©e costs more than 6.99 dollars. I was so undecided to choose either JajangMun or  Bajirak but finally I had a combo and had chance to try both of them. JajangMun has a nice chewy texture . The noodle has a thick consistency topped with Korean black soybean source and ground meat.

It tastes lip-smacking delicious  but my suggestion is you should enjoy the dish when it is hot.

  • it's time for revival

Spring is around the corner; little spots of sunshines land on the fields of lilies, daisies, tulips, and cherry blossoms ; the sky is blue and high, the birds are singing, and a blow of gentle breeze would bring the fragrances of flower blooming.

Spring, the perfect time to renew body and soul, to enjoy every single moment in your life, and be open to the world of nature.

Lifestyle today is too fast-paced and complex than ever; and sometimes we neglect the tiny beautiful little things surrounding us. So now, with spring, with flower blooming all around the world, and with the birds whistling merrily on trees, why don't you just take a short break and indulge yourself,?

and so do I , sometimes I need to pause and breath some fresh air.
This little white flower grows unnoticed on the ground, ~^^, the rest were taken in a quiet, sunny day with fresh-washed air, enjoys my photos "-"
